Hello, my name is Catherine and our dear friends, family and community are facing an unimaginable situation. My husband Romie’s family lives in St. Elizabeth, Maggotty, Jamaica, one of the areas most devastated by Hurricane Melissa.
For days, we had no contact with our loved ones and feared the worst. Late last night, we finally managed to reach family, and while everyone is physically okay , the news is heartbreaking.
The entire community has been flattened. Homes, shops, clothing, furniture … everything is gone. Not a single tree has a leaf left. Road access in and out is completely blocked, and the devastation is beyond words.
Families are now staying wherever they can find shelter, with up to 50 people crowded into the few houses that still have roofs. They have no food, no clothes, and no basic resources.
We are raising funds to provide immediate relief to our family and their community — including:
• Food and clean water
• Clothing
• School supplies for children
• Materials to begin rebuilding homes and businesses
Romie and I are ready to fly to Jamaica as soon as we can to help our family and neighbors directly. If travel is delayed due to airport closures or other restrictions, the funds will be provided directly to the families most in need until we are able to get there.
Every dollar will go directly to our family and the community to help them recover from this disaster. Updates will be shared so donors can see the impact of their generosity.
Please keep our family, the people of St. Elizabeth, and all of Jamaica in your thoughts and prayers ❤️
