Damions Stage 4 Lung Cancer Journey

Donation protected

Stage 4 Adenocarcinoma Lung Cancer. We ask the doctor, what's the pronosis, how long does he have. 3 to 5 years is what they say, we will do palliative care and try to give him the best quality of life for as long as we can. Imagine hearing that news as a 16 year old. At 16, he was deciding what he wanted to do after graduation. Making plans for his future. Talking about the next football season and what he wanted to improve on. Just being a regular teen. Imagine what went through his mind. I can tell you for us as a parent, our world stopped,it just froze and came crashing down. We don't know what he was thinking. He was quiet, no tears, just strong and brave. So much braver than us. And he still is. He will tell you I am just trying to live my life and not think about it. Some days are good and some are bad. He was diagnosed Aug of 2020 in the hight of the pandemic. This last Aug he hit his 4 year mark. Some says that's awesome but, for him and us it feels like a count down even though we try not to look at it that way. He continues to be brave and push on through the pain, the hair loss, the vomiting, the radiation, through the chemo treatments every 3 weeks, the lab draws every week, and all the other appointments He tries not to think about what he cant do and tries to keeps his mind positive by working or his car when he feels well enough, by setting goals. We do everything we can to help him with the car and anything else he wants to experiance in his short life and so many of you have helped him with this as well and still r helping. Whether it's by donating money, items, or time. You have helped him on this journey and we could never thank you enough. I hate asking for help it's just not in me, but when it comes to him, I will swallow my pride and do whatever it takes. Damion is on his last treatment option, if the chemo stops working or his body gets to were it cant handle it,there is nothing left to try. He has gone through all of his options. Damion found out the cancer spread to his brain in October and under went radiation once again. We wont know if it worked until his next scans at the end of January.

Damion loves racing riding his Harley and working on cars. His mental health is just as important as his physical health and we will do everything we can to keep his spirits up and continue to give him things to look forward to. Lots of appoitments between Chemo, Radiations, scans, oncology appointments and regualr check ups with his primary care provider take a chunck of money out of our budget, not leaving much for anything else. One of his biggest bucket list items is to get to go to Little talladega for a few days. Please help us make it happen for him. Updated Jan 2025
