I started a go fund me page for my friend and fellow Realtor who has been so very sick with a recent diagnosis of Lyme Disease. Kassandra was bitten by a tick several years back but the doctor advised her since only 1 band out of 5 came back positive he did not feel the need to treat her with the proper antibiotics, so the disease lay dormant. Waiting.  Fast forward a few years later and Kassandra married her best friend, Eric and now they are a blended family of 5. Shortly after the wedding last year, Kassandra started feeling bad and was unable to do the most menial of tasks as a mom and a new wife. Her bones and joints ached all the time. There were days she couldn’t get out of bed. She went to the doctor and was found to have Lyme Disease. Apparently she had been bitten  again and since the previous band was lying dormant it only made her most recent flair up even worse. She has seen specialist after specialist and has finally found a Doctor who can treat the disease. It requires treatments from Europe and prior to receiving the IV therapy her blood must be drawn and each blood draw costs $2,000. This does not include the cost of the intravenous infusions. Of course, she and Eric’s insurance do not cover this. Recently Kassandra was treated for chest pain in the emergency room and the Doctors stated she must be extremely careful due to the Lyme disease and the effects it could leave on her heart. She now has to follow up with a cardiologist. Her husband is working harder and longer hours to try and provide for the treatment for his wife but it just isn’t enough. Kassandra needs this medication to be well again. I hate seeing her so sick and with such a heavy burden on her and the family. She goes to the Genesis clinic next week for her first blood draw but may not have the money and would have to cancel. Kassandra finally found out why she is so sick. It’s a relief knowing but that doesn’t help with the day to day pains and weakness. This treatment has a 100% success rate in eradicating the disease. With our help, Kassandra can be herself again and go back to being the best mommy, Realtor and wife she so wants to be. Her family and her faith are everything to her. Her family needs us to rally together and help get this treatment started for her. She is the most sincere, kind and giving person I have ever met.
