Help Oliver Launch His Therapeutic Practice
Dear friends and fam,
As many of you know, I just graduated from Naropa University with an MA in Counseling Psychology, and am in the home stretch of setting up my private practice as a therapist! I am in love with the work and very excited to take the next steps as a new professional in private practice. I am particularly drawn to couples' work, where I intend to specialize, but I am also finding a lot of enjoyment and meaning in working with adolescent and adult individuals across the spectrums of race, class, and gender.
I am passionate about making sure I am able to work with the underserved, including those on Medicaid and the underinsured. Private practice in the state of CO will enable me to reach these populations with great personal flexibility and without the high risk of burnout that often pervades the world of not-for-profit mental health agencies. I am fortunate to live in a state where this is even an option for a new clinician; but it's not without its (sometimes prohibitive) costs.
I've been living on student loans and gig work for the past three years while I complete this degree, and I will need some help to get over the hump from a year of unpaid labor as I complete my internship. I am in a pretty tight place right now as I begin to face the startup price tag:
Startup costs:
-Office deposit: $500
-Office furniture: $500
-LLC application: $100
-Liability insurance: $100
-Provisional license $70
Ongoing expenses:
-Office space at $500/mo
-Clinical supervision at $200/mo
-Client management software: $50/mo
-Psychologytoday.com classified profile: $37/mo
I live in a city with high demand for the services I offer, I have an excellent professional community, and I am highly motivated to get this business off the ground; but with no funds coming in until October, right when student loans start coming due, it's going to take a mighty push to get myself set up on a confident footing! Any help you can offer to help me do work that will hopefully make a positive impact on people's lives and communities is greatly appreciated!
Thank you so much for all the kindness and support you've already offered me on this path, and thank you for considering!
Love,
Oliver David Franklin
