Help Save Athena With IVDD Surgery ❤️
Hello friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
I never imagined I’d be writing this, but our beloved dog, Athena, is in urgent need of surgery — and we can’t do it alone.
Athena has been part of our life for a little over a year now, ever since we rescued her she has helped us recover from the grief of losing our first dog Bug, she is just the happiest craziest baby. From the very beginning, she has been more than just a pet — Athena is my best friend, my source of comfort on hard days, and a constant reminder of unconditional love.
A few days ago, I noticed something wasn’t right. She wasnt her usual happy self so we had her seen originally thinking complications with her respiratory disorder and the unhealthy amounts of smoke from the PNW wildfires around us. However things changed rapidly she started losing function to her back legs and within 18 hours was unable to walk. After taking Athena to the vet, I received heartbreaking news: Athena has intervertebral disc disease, a disc in her back has herniated and is compressing her spinal cord. The only way to relieve her pain and give her a chance at walking again is through emergency spinal surgery.
The procedure, along with necessary aftercare, medications, and follow-up appointments, is estimated at $8,000. Unfortunately, this is far beyond what we can afford right now. As much as it hurts to ask, I’m turning to my community for help.
Athena isn’t just an animal — she is family. She is my battle buddy, my wiggle worm, my little Athena ballerina, she is my hiking partner, and my baby. Everyone who meets Athena falls in love with her energetic personality, her tiny corgi legs, and her beautiful ghost eye and I can’t imagine life without her. This surgery is her best chance at a happy healthy life
How you can help:
Donations of any size will go directly toward the surgery and recovery costs. Even $5 makes a difference.
Sharing this fundraiser with others helps spread the word and brings us closer to reaching the goal.
Kind words and encouragement mean more than I can express — every bit of support helps keep hope alive.
Our family thanks you. Athena thanks you for giving her the chance to walk again and continue to be my battle buddy.
