On Sunday November 29th, 2015, I will be attempt to complete the 2015 Cozumel Ironman . This consists of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and then a marathon... all in one go!
This is my first ever Ironman and am not quite sure what to expect.I have never attempted anything like this. People have told me that I'm mad! I am doing it to raise funds for the Hearst Autism Fund . (Please click on the link for more information.)
This cause is very personal to me. Earlier this year, both my daughters were diagnosed with Autism. Anna, our elder daughter, has autism that is relatively mild. Emma, our younger daughter, has a condition that is more severe. She is in the autism class of our local school, Hearst Elementary.
Any amount that people could donate would be much appreciated. The staff at Hearst do an amazing job, but, as explained in Hearst's Gofundme page (linked above), more money is needed for vital services.
Interested parties can naturally contribute to the Hearst Autism Fund directly. I would appreciate it if family or friends wishing to contribute would do so via this page. I'm sure it will be difficult to complete this Ironman, but the thought of raising money for this worthy cause will spur me on during difficult moments!
As the parents of autistic children can tell you, autism presents a lot of challenges. Emma is a wonderful child, who spreads joy wherever she goes, but she and others like her need all the help they can get as they make their journey through life.
I know there are lots of worthy causes out there, but this one is very personal to me. I hope people seeing this page will consider giving.
Thank you for your time.
