This sweet couple, Scottie & Marcy, are long time family friends who have had their world turned upside down.

On April 3rd, Scottie went in the hospital to have a cardiac ablation procedure done on his heart due to AFib. What was supposed to be a routine procedure, ended up with Scottie in cardiogenic shock (where his heart wasn’t pumping enough blood to his body) and caused his body to essentially shut down. Scottie ended up spending roughly 2 months in the hospital (over a month of that, he couldn't wake up)--at one point, dr's tested him for brain activity because there was very little signs of activity. Once Scottie was able to wake up, he was unable to speak for 2 months, and just recently was able to come home from rehab (as of last week 7/2) and finally passed his swallow test to be able to eat "regular" food.

We are reaching out to ask for help for this sweet family as they have went from a two income family, to now there being no income coming in. Marcy works for Harris Teeter, but being the sole caregiver, she's using her accrued vacation time to solely keep the insurance needed for Scottie's medical care. Other than that, she is unable to work due to Scottie needing 24/7, around the clock care. Before Scottie's medical issues, he worked as a handy-man. Clearly, he's no longer in a position to be able to work.

These are two of the kindest, caring, God-fearing, loving, and compassionate people you will ever meet. They aren't typically the kind to ask for help, as they're usually the one's who are helping others.

Any help that can be given is greatly appreciated. All money donated will go to the family to help take care of Scottie and his medical needs, as well as their every day needs.
