My name is Andy Schmidt and I am raising money in order to save Arka's leg. Arka is my partner and a retired Police K9 who served the citizens of SC for nearly 8 years. She is an 11 year old German Shepherd in quite good health with the exception of her paw. We have had her in the family for 9 1/2 years and she is family.

She was diagnosed this week with a cancerous tumor on the big paw pad on her left foot. The options for treatment are limited. It is an agressive form of Melanoma and needs to be treated as soon as possible. 

Presently the only option I can affford to pay for on my own would be to remove the entire front left leg. I really don't want that for her :(

I am hoping to raise enough money to start radiation on her foot as soon as possible. With radiation on the tumor itself along with a Melanoma Vaccine, to help slow future growth elsewhere, her prognosis for the remaing time she has is fairly good.

Arka has been a fantastic partner and was by my side every minute of every day as she rode with me everywhere I went. She was there for me and now its my time to be there for her. Any help you can give to this retired service dog would be greatly appreciated.
