All Part of God’s Story – A Kidney Transplant Journey
Read below as Sommer tells her incredible story of faith and challenges as she navigates through this journey of trusting God.
We all have a meaningful part to play in God’s story — and this is mine.
My name is Sommer Porter, and my journey began at 8 years old when I was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease, a genetic condition I inherited from my father’s side. Just one year later, my world changed forever when my mom was tragically killed in a car accident.
I had every reason to turn away from God… but instead, I chose to trust Him.
Now, years later, I am in kidney failure, and in need of a life-saving transplant. Even in this hard season, God is writing a story of hope. I’ve been blessed with a living donor — a true hero — whose selfless gift is giving me a second chance at life.
November 4th is my miracle day — the day I receive this incredible gift of life.
As I recover, I will be out of work for 3 to 6 months, my family is preparing for medical bills, post-op care, and other unexpected expenses during this time.
How You Can Help:
• Pray — For my donor, our families, our medical team, and for every step of this process to go smoothly, according to God’s will.
• Give — If you feel led, any financial support will mean the world to us as we navigate this season.
• Share — Please share our story with others who may want to pray or contribute.
Your kindness, generosity, and faith are helping carry us through. Whether you give, pray, or simply share this page — thank you for being part of this chapter in God’s story with us.
