Mobility Service Dog Training

  My name is Kimberly;

 I have been diagnosed with MS for 30 years and have had my ups and downs. Three years ago I began having more frequent and serious mobility problems; fell in the yard and was unable to get up. I had to rest on the ground for about thirty minutes until I could get up on my own. It was then that I realized I needed more assistance than my cane or walker could afford me. I learned a Mobility Service Dog would meet my needs. Since that time I have fallen many times and luckily have not been seriously injured. More recently I have fallen or had near falls weekly and even daily. 

  A mobility service dog assists with balance when walking, can retrieve items for you, open doors, help you up when you fall, and go get you help if needed. Plus other things can be done, turning lights on , pushing elevator buttons, etc. There are several programs that offer a free trained mobility service dog , but I have been trying and waiting for the last three years without being offered one and know I need to move forward. I need the assistance and confidence that comes with the help of a mobility dog .My lack of balance and fear of falling has affected my life and keeps me from going out especially when I am feeling unstable. I know I can be severely injured, and frankly, I find it humiliating to find myself on the floor.

Trained Mobility Dog- 35,000-55,000$

Training a Mobility Dog- 6,000-25,000$

Obedience training- 3,000$

 Mobility Harness- 400-600$

  

 My brother gifted me( for which I am so grateful)with a Great Dane puppy to be trained as a service dog. Initial training

starts next month. This is an intensive obedience training and boarding. The funds raised will go towards all training for my pup Toussaint (Too SAN ). Toussaint will be home from his obedience training about May 5,2023. I will also be doing bake sales and other fundraisers to hopefully make up the difference. Any amount will help .
