Thank you for visiting my page. As many of you know I am joining the Mozambique Mission Trip Team this coming November. I could not be more excited to be formed personally by the trip and bring back stories of the impact The Gathering is having in Mozambique.
I value each one of you and I would ask first that you would commit to praying for me. I know this trip will be formative in my own life as well as instrumental to the work we do at The Gathering. I would also appreciate if you would consider contributing financially to my trip.
If you want more details about our trip I have included what we will be doing while in Mozambique.
I am particularly excited about this opportunity because the “mission” of our trip is multifaceted. As many of you know, my church is deeply committed to a safe water ministry. In partnership with the Mozambique Initiative of the Missouri United
Methodist Conference (www.mzinitiative.com), The Gathering has provided funds to build 23 wells in Mozambique. The Initiative’s vision, however, is not limited to well building but instead takes a holistic approach of transformation in three areas:
transforming the body, transforming the community, and transforming the heart & mind.
With the help of the Initiative, I will be embarking on a trip that will gives attention to all three areas. First, we will create a documentary that tells the story of clean water. We will visit
wells The Gathering has funded and meet the people who rely on their water source. We will experience what life was like before the well, by walking with them on the long journey to get water, and learn how safe water has impacted their physical health and
the economic health of their community.
Second, we will meet with community leaders and learn about the sustainability projects of Mozambique. We will conduct intentional conversations about these projects and evaluate the feasibility of implementing a micro financing program to help with their funding. We will also begin asset mapping for their community, identifying the human and economic assets that are presently available to them and engaging in dialogue about how those assets could be put to work.
Lastly, we will build relationships with the people of Mozambique so to better understand how we can support and walk along side them as brothers and sisters in Christ.
Thank you for your continued support!
