In the early hours of April 10, 2025, our lives were irrevocably changed. A devastating fire, sparked by flames from an abandoned house next door, reduced the home we cherished for 23 years to ashes. This home held more than walls and a roof. It cradled generations of our family, serving as a safe haven where we raised not only our own children but also the children of loved ones we’ve lost. Today, that beacon is gone. My family and I, along with 10 children, face the immense burden of starting over. Adding to this heartbreak, our beloved Ada, who is bravely battling for her life on the heart transplant list, remains our constant reminder of resilience and the strength of family.
