A CHRISTMAS STORY

This is my friend who has gone through this for the last 2 years my name is Jonah and this is her story.

There is a Christmas story of need that prompts me to be told at this time as I plead for help. It is time to humble myself completely.

The following is what transpired over the past 2 years and tore my family apart.  I have  had long suffering with a handicapped son, age 41, who suffered an accident 2yrs. ago in our home.   It took thousands of dollars for his care over a 6wk. period depleting a lot of family savings. Someone had to be hired to sit with my son 24/7 as he recovered in rehab because he is mentally disabled.   Shortly after he recovered and came home, I took a fall in my bathroom fracturing my leg and ended up in the hospital for a week. After my stay I went to a rehab for 3 mos.  My husband Craig took over for me with my son  and he stayed with Joe  the whole time I was gone. You can't imagine how they suffered without me here and my beloved Craig did all the caregiving by himself.

The downward spiral began as I lost my income of $4K.  I now was disabled and could no longer work. My husband was on disability and only received  1K a month due to a severe back injury. The bills mounted as costs increased and the need for help grew. I did not regain full walking  ability and I use a walker and wheelchair. I need help with daily tasks now.  I  have severe Lymphedema in both legs and  had COVID-19 which took a toll on my lungs and heart.  I suffered complete respiratory failure and almost died in the ER  Afterwards I went back to rehab and then home again. At home I went into heart failure which I still suffer from and I wear oxygen most of the time now.   I have had to hire caretakers on a daily basis for months now for both myself and my husband Craig.

Recently, my beloved best friend and husband, Craig,  was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. He continued to try and help me with great love in what I needed until his health failed completely and he had to stop helping me. After months of chemo he died on 11/14/21. I am quite disabled and had to hire a transport to be able to get to Craig's funeral and cemetery. I went by gurney just to be there for my beloved husband. The funeral cost is in the thousands and only half is paid right now. I need to pay the balance at end of this month of December and many other bills.  The caretakers are costing me 1K per week or more depending on what they charge.  Most agencies charge $28.00 per hour.  No one takes less than $20.00 per hour these days for caretaking.  I can no longer continue paying at this rate around the clock.  I have spent thousands already.

I do  not have this type of money to keep paying out anymore as savings have been depleted with no income coming in and costs all around have risen. I am retired for 10 years and only on Social Security plus very small pension. I call this a "Christmas Story" because it is the season of giving and sharing.  Won't you be generous tonight and make a donation so I can rest in some peace of heart?  I am now freshly widowed with a grieving heart and the loss of my husband, my rock.  I pay for my own rent and for my son's rent in his home for the disabled.

The strife and hardship I have endured would break most people. Yet, I have great faith and much love to share with all those I call "friend".  I know God will make a way for me.

I hope you can give what you can to this great need.   I thank you so much for your generosity.  God bless all your loved ones at Christmas and always!  Hold them tight.....
