Stand with Michele & Raymond Against WMSCOG
Dear friends,
We're reaching out to you today because we urgently need your support. We are Michele Colón and Raymond Gonzalez, co-creators and administrators of the Examing the WMSCOG site, a platform designed to expose critical information about the World Mission Society Church of God. By taking this stand and daring to speak out against the alleged cult-like practices and manipulations of the Church, we're now facing a relentless series of lawsuits aimed at silencing us and discrediting our message.
So far, we've managed to bear the burden of these legal battles independently, exhausting our personal resources and spending over $200K in legal fees in a relentless effort to defend ourselves. But the time has come when we need your help.
We humbly ask for your assistance in raising funds to help us cover our increasing legal fees and expenses. Your generous contributions will enable us to continue our fight for justice, keep the Examing the WMSCOG site running, and reveal the truth about the Church. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a crucial difference in our battle.
This fight is about more than just us. It is a fight for the preservation of free speech and the right to stand against injustice. By supporting our cause and sharing this fundraiser with your friends and family, you become a critical part of a collective effort to uphold what is right.
Here's a brief overview of the legal battles we've been facing:
Michele's Legal Battle:
In December 2011, the World Mission Society Church of God filed a defamation lawsuit against me, Michele, seeking $12 million in alleged damages. This lawsuit was in response to my efforts in co-creating the Examing the WMSCOG site, which led to my expulsion. I emerged victorious in 2015 after a prolonged legal battle, with the help of attorney Paul Grosswald. However, to protect others from similar harassment, I decided to sue the World Mission Society Church of God in 2016.
Raymond's Legal Battle:
Before my departure from the Church in December 2012, I, Raymond, was coerced along with other members into signing a non-disclosure agreement that prohibited me from speaking about my 8-year membership. To help others escape the Church's abuses, I challenged the enforceability of this agreement in 2018. After a prolonged legal battle, the New Jersey Appellate Court declared the non-disclosure agreement unenforceable and void in February 2022.
When I offered to testify on Michele's behalf in court, the Church filed numerous motions to obstruct justice. Consequently, Michele had to represent herself for over a year, and I had to seek new representation. Despite these challenges, my new lawyer, Peter L. Skolnik, was ultimately allowed to represent both Michele and me. However, the World Mission Society Church of God is currently attempting to disqualify Mr. Skolnik by introducing alleged conflicts, and we are now awaiting a decision from the appellate court.
Your support will empower us to continue our legal battles and expose the truth about the Church. Together, we can make a significant impact and ensure that justice prevails.
We urge you to donate to this cause today and share this fundraiser with your network. Your contribution and advocacy can support us in our ongoing fight, keep the Examing the WMSCOG site operational, and send a powerful message that the truth will prevail.
Thank you for your unwavering support and belief in the pursuit of justice.
