I am setting up a Go Fund Me Account for my sister, Theresa Love. On Thursday April 6th she was diagnosed with a GBM (Glioblastoma Multiforme) Brain tumor on the right and left side of the frontal lobe of her brain. Due to the rapid aggressive growth of this type of tumor and the pressure it was applying to her brain, the neurologist suggested immediate surgery. She underwent brain surgery Monday April 10th to debulk the tumor.
Three to four weeks prior to diagnoses she started having slight memory loss. The tumor rapidly grew to 6 centimeters and began putting pressure on her brain causing her to began having more severe memory loss. When she did not show up for church Wednesday evening on time, Gary Love, Theresa's husband called to ask where she was. She said she was waiting outside the doctors office. Knowing all doctors office are closed by 5, he asked what she was doing there. She said she was waiting in the parking lot to pick up a someone that needed a ride home. At this point Gary and her children knew that this was very serious so she was taken in Thursday morning for an MRI and cat scan.
Glioblastoma Multiforme tumors are very aggressive and are known to return. The surgeon told the family the surgery would relieve the pressure and give her a chance to spend time with family comfortably for the next year and a half to two years. Being very strong in faith, this family does not accept the sentence she has been given. Theresa is a very strong Christian woman and Gary is a Minister. Both their children have been raised in a very loving Christian home and know God is in control. Theresa and Gary have been married for 33 1/2 years. They began serving the lord together a few years after they got married. Over the years, they have opened their home to other families that had no place to go, never asking for anything in return. They ran a food pantry for many years, taking their own time to make trips to several major store chains to pick up day old goods to hand out to whoever needed it. Once my car broke down and I had no way of getting to a mechanic or even paying for it. They came over towed my car and had it repaired, they paid for it and told me it was a gift and I didn't need to worry about paying them back. They have always been very loving and giving to anyone who needed their help or just to lend an ear and pray with someone that going through troubles of their own. Anyone that has ever met them knows how humble and giving they are. They would never ask for help and now is the time they will desperately need it.
Theresa will not be able to return to work for sometime, if ever. Due to the nature of this type of cancer, it has been known to return. They will be facing many hurdles along the road to recovery and as we all know, cancer treatment is not cheap.
The surgeon was able to remove 90% of tumor on the right side of the brain but the left side will be treated with chemo and radiation. The left side measures approximately 12 millimeters and could not be removed due to it being connected across both hemispheres of the frontal lobe. Since both hemispheres talk to each other, removing it could create paralysis, loss of motor function, loss of speech or several other issues. Her doctor was happy with the outcome after the surgery, he said she was doing very well. She was able to get out of bed today and walk a little bit down the hallway.
We are praying and believing God for a total healing for Theresa. With this fund we are hoping to lighten the financial burden that has come upon this family. Medication, visits to the doctor, tests, home health care help, loss of income for Theresa, not to mention time Gary will loose from work taking care of her will become an every day worry for both of them. If at all possible please give to someone who has given unselfishly to others. I pray that God touches your heart and you are able to help.
