Getting Something off my Chest
Donation protected
Before reading my story, if you are a trans person or know someone who could benefit, please read and reach out to these wonderful resources that are available to the LGBTQ+ community in Indiana, or donate to some of these causes instead, as I feel they are in more dire need than I am of donations!
GenderNexus is a nonprofit organization that has support services for gender diverse people to help them meet their physical, emotional, social, spiritual, intellectual, occupational, and environmental needs.
Eskenazi Health is a not-for-profit organization that's mission is to advocate, care, teach, and serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population. They also are partnered with IU Health and can put you in touch with transgender-friendly doctors.
Indiana Youth Group is a nonprofit organization that serves children that identify as LGBTQ+ from ages 12-20, by advocating for youth in schools, the community, and through family support services.

Hello! My name is Avery Sanders, and I am a 29-year-old comedian and Transmasculine person.
Throughout my childhood, I knew there was something different about me. I told my entire preschool class that someday I wanted to be a boy. Here I am, decades later and I am living a life I didn't know could be possible. I have been identifying as a man for 2 years, and on hormone therapy for 1 1/2 years. I've been dealing with dysphoria related to my chest for all of my life, even before my transition. To say "Top Surgery" would bring me relief is an understatement. I've been in pursuit of this surgery and a surgeon for years.
I will be getting my top surgery on October 1st, 2020 performed by Dr. Raymond Isakov in Ohio at the Cleveland Clinic. I will be paying 1,000 out of pocket. I am asking for 2,500 to help cover medication, my month of time off for recovery, and my wonderful Fiance, Allie's week time off to help me recover correctly. This money will be going towards the cost of my medications after surgery, rent, utilities, and groceries. Since we are both taking time off this will help relieve a lot of financial stress during this already transformative part of our lives.
I know a lot of LGBTQ+ people find themselves in the same financial boat as I am, there are so many other worthy causes to give to, especially in this political and social climate, so don't feel any sort of pressure to donate! But if you're able to or want to, thank you so much, every little bit is helpful!
Thank you for taking the time to read my story
