Help Struggling Single Mom Stay in School

BACKGROUND: I’m writing this on behalf of my friend Hafsah. Hafsah is a single mother and student who lives in Indonesia and perhaps one of the bravest women and mothers I know. Despite being disowned by her family after they found out she was pregnant outside of marriage and ending up on the street homeless and starving, she was determined to choose life and I’m happy to report she did!

Unfortunately, there aren’t any pregnancy centers or maternity homes where she lived in Indonesia. The culture is so, so, different there. But at 70 lbs, she met a missionary who recommend she try to reach out to pro-life groups online for help. Thankfully, that’s when I met her (I’ve verified her story more on that at the bottom of this). I’ve now been assisting her for a while. Without any support from family, friends, or her son’s father, she struggles financially. However, she has come SO FAR since I first met her, thanks to the love and support of donors I’ve met along the way of trying to help her.

Thanks to donors they have a roof over their heads, clothes on their backs, and food in their kitchen. She was also able to get a laptop and start online college so she could simultaneously attend class to make a better future for herself and her son as well as take care of him during the day.

While she is often publicly shamed for being a single mother, Hafsah is one of the most loving, responsible, caring, and hardworking mothers I know. She attends college online full-time in addition to being the sole provider for her son.

NEED: However, recently donations have dwindled. She hasn’t received a donation in quite a while and the little funds she has left have gone to bills, food, and medical expenses (she’s currently dealing with long-covid issues and her son often requires medical attention due to respiratory issues). This has made her even more determined to finish college as soon as possible, so she can have a full-time career and become financially independent. In fact, she signed up to do consecutive semesters (back-to-back/working through her usual holiday breaks) so she can graduate as fast as possible and become a children’s English teacher.

THIS is where she needs help! In order to do consecutive semesters, the rest of her tuition is due in one sum of $1,000 THIS December! This is what Hafsah needs to stay in and complete school!

I’ve also included a little extra in the goal to help cover their bills, further medical visits, and food expenses.

Hafsah IS helping both herself and her son by attending college. While she does currently need some extra help from others, she is determined to finish school, get a degree, and a good job. Let’s join together and help this mama who has been through so much yet is still working her hardest to become skilled and independent.

NOTE: Although many people would assume she’s a scammer because she resides in another country, I can ensure that’s not the case. I’ve verified who she is through multiple avenues, including but not limited to viewing her medical and school records, talking with the initial missionary she was in contact with and video chatting with her. Through this all, I’ve become a close friend. I try to help her as much as possible, coming up with ways to make extra money simply so I can donate to her. I normally help people with material items. However, due to strict country import rules and COVID-19 restrictions, I had no choice but to ask for funds in her case.
