Josh's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
My 10 year old nephew, Josh was in a serious ATV accident on February, 16th. He fractured his skull and had bleeding on his brain. He was sedated right away and was flown by Flight for Life out of Door County Memorial hospital to St. Vincent in Green Bay. He immediately was rushed into surgery.

The surgeon had to preform brain surgery to stop the bleeding in his brain. One of his main arteries on his right side of the brain was bleeding. The surgeon had minutes to stop the bleeding.  Melanie, his mom was with him when they arrived at the hospital. She told me the surgeon said, "He has a 50-60% of surviving." Then everyone took off running. They were shaving his head while running down the hallway.

Josh is expected to make a full recovery from this traumatic accident. It is going to take time... a whole lot of time. He will need physical, occupational and speech therapy. There is no specific timeline when these therapies will end. It might even be a couple of months before Josh is released from the hospital. Even then he will need to  continue therapy.

It's been six days since his accident. He is slowly improving. He mostly sleeps right now. Which is best for him at the moment. Therapy has started and he makes improvements everyday. He is a fighter and is working very hard! He knows what is going on and responds by squeezing your hand or nodding. His parents have been by his side every second and are doing an amazing job at staying strong. No other choice!

They have a long road ahead of them to recovery. They will get there! That long road is going to take a financial toll on them. Driving to Green Bay from Sturgeon Bay, missing work, and medical bills. Please consider helping them. Even if it's 5.00 or even a prayer. This family is strong. But sometimes even the strongest family needs a helping hand.
