On June 18 th, 2015 my Uncle James Walker, was involved in a serious multi-vehicle motorcycle accident on 35W in Bloomington, MN while on his way to work.  He was rear ended into an accident that had just happened that involved the two cars in front of him.  The driver that rear ended my uncle took off.  My uncle was thrown from his Harley and he sustained a traumatic brain injury, 8 broken ribs, a fractured ankle, a traumatic herniation on the side of his abdomen and numerous cuts, bruises and scrapes. He spent 2 days in ICU and 5 in the hospital. He has since been recovering at home and goes back in for what we hope is his final surgery on his abdomen on August 4th and will then spend 2 months recovering from that. He also has at least another 2 months of recovery for his brain injury.

 My uncle is a self employed, one-man shop plumbing contractor who has always worked very hard to support his family which includes his wife Amelia, his 9 year old daughter Emily and 6 year old son, James. If he is hurt he can not work and does not make money. As of now he has been without income for 7 weeks and has at least another 8 weeks of recovery before he will be able to go back to work. My aunt works full time but does not make nearly enough to support their family of 4. On top of that, she recently started a new job and although they have been wonderful about time off due to the accident, she does not yet have PTO to cover the days off so is not getting paid when she takes off either. They are currently looking at about $80,000-120,000 in medical bills and after 7 weeks of no income are struggling with monthly household bills also.  They are planning on selling all belongings they do not need to try to raise some funds but that will not bring in much.

 Uncle Jim and Aunt Amelia are known for helping anyone who needs it whether that be financially or other ways. They have donated to families in need, wrote checks out at silent auctions, helped family and friends when asked, etc and now they need our help! All dollars raised will go directly for living and medical expenses for the Walker Family.
