On the morning of August 3rd, Jake was driving from Los Angeles to Albuquerque after a month long trip down the west coast. A few hours into his drive, he happened to look in his rear view mirror to see flames in the camper shell of his truck. He urgently pulled over and attempted to open the back but it was already melted shut. He then flagged down a truck driver who had a fire extinguisher, however it was not enough and the truck was soon completely engulfed in flames. 

After waiting for the fire trucks to arrive and extinguish the fire, it was too late to salvage any of Jakes belongings. There is no definitive explanation for the cause of the fire. As you can see in the aftermath photos, EVERYTHING was destroyed. Among some of the things lost along with his truck; NJK leathers, skateboards, skate gear, mattress, wetsuit, passport, social security card, 2 cases of Waterloo wheels, clothes, and other miscellaneous items. Basically, he made it out with the clothes on his back. 

Jake's enthusiastic approach to skateboarding has made him pretty well liked in the downhill skateboarding community. If Jake is at an event, odds are you know it. We are hoping that Jake's presence in the downhill community will help this GoFundMe page have a far reach.

Although the total loss exceeds our goal, with your help, we can raise enough money for Jake to be back in action. We want to see Jake at more events in the future, many of which he cannot participate without the proper gear. Hell, maybe we can raise enough to make a huge difference!
