Ron Clarke is a honorably discharged United States Air Force Security Forces Veteran. In 1991, he underwent major surgery to correct some digestive issues. The medical protocol at that time was to "kill" the vagal nerve which controlled stomach acid. After the surgery Ron departed the military but continued to have similar issues over the last 20 years. In 2014, it was decided that a major surgical intervention was needed.
In February 2015 he had the surgery. Investigation revealed that the 1991 surgery had destroyed the blood flow to his esophogaus, part of his stomach, and part of his bowel Thus, his esophogaus was totally removed as well as other portions of his digestive system. Currently Ron is fed with a tube thru his stomach wall and cannot (currently due to medical inability) ever eat or drink normally again as the "food tube" between his throat and stomach has been removed. He is required to be connected to his feeding machine (Ron's sense of humor has remained intact as he has nicknamed this machine "R2D2") 22 hours per day!
Ron has been hospitalized since the February surgery with no income and has rapidly depleted his savings and loans he had acquired. While hospitalized he has continued to pay his bills.
Since the medical error occured while active duty his aplication for 100%, disability has been filed, but this can take some time.
