Calaebs Canines

Update: Wow! From the depths of our heart we thank you for helping us to meet our goal in just over 24 hours. There are truly no words that can express the deep gratitude that we feel. Each donation and page share was a reminder that our sweet boy is deeply loved and remembered.

We are so thankful to those of you who reached out wanting to give but simply didn't have the chance. After taking some time to reflect we have decided to raise our goal. This will ensure every dog is adopted with no additional costs.

Thank you for keeping our sweet boys light shining bright by continuing to spread Calaebs kindness!❤

July 4th, 2006 my life was forever changed in the most incredible way. Looking back at me were the deepest brown eyes, the same eyes that would see into the hearts, hurts, and hopes of so many in the years to follow. November 27th, 2020 my life was forever changed once again but this time in the most tragic and painful way as I lost the sweet boy who made me a mommy.

This 4th of July would have marked our sweet Calaebs 15th birthday. It is the deepest desire of so many bereaved parents to continue the legacy of their child, to ensure that others speak their child's name aloud as the days, months, and years pass. We plead in our most desperate prayers for you to remember them the way we do. From those deepest desires, #CalaebsCanines was born. An opportunity to honor Calaeb on his birthday each year committed to continuing the work he started.

Calaebs love for humans and animals alike was deep, inclusive, and passionate. He saw the marginalized and ostracized and made sure they knew they were seen, valued, and important. Simply put he always chose love.

From his first best friend Ozzy who he rescued from a shelter to his sweet girl Sophie who knew all his secrets, to the abandoned dog whose eye was missing, a leg was broken, and fur was matted with bugs. He loved them all equally because as far as he was concerned they were in need of being loved and they mattered.

This July 3rd we want to continue his legacy of choosing love and giving back and want to sponsor the first 15 animal adoptions from the Lynchburg Humane Society. My hope for that day is that someone will look deep into a pair of dark brown eyes, and realize that their life is forever changed by this new love they have welcomed into their hearts.

Whether you are on this journey with us or you just happened upon our story, thank you. Thank you for speaking his name aloud.

You are Kind. You are Worthy. You are Important.

YOU ARE LOVED.
