Dave Dauphinee is a father, friend, husband, co-worker and I am sure many things to many people. Dave has been with our company for many years now as an HVAC tech. He is loud, gregarious, funny, a hard worker, sweet, a conversationalist and incredibly helpful.
While I haven’t had the pleasure of spending time with him outside of the office, I have had the pleasure of working with him for a few years now. He is currently fighting the good fight with a medical issue that will have him out of work for countless months. Dave found out a few months ago that he would have this uphill battle ahead of him and instead of taking it easy, as I am sure he was told he should, he kept showing up. He showed up every day for work unless an appointment or a bump in the road prevented him from doing so.
You don’t realize how much you appreciate someone until something makes you stop to appreciate them. Work is where we tend to spend a majority of our time. The people you work with, if you are lucky enough, become somewhat like family. They can become the overbearing mom, the whiny sister, the cantankerous brother. Well that’s what Dave has become to us. He is family. He is the guy you can call on at 2:00 am when you are all out of HVAC techs to take emergency calls because it’s still 80 degrees out. He will be on the road in a heartbeat. He is the guy that will look at the generator at site he is at because it started up but sounded funny [he’s an HVAC tech, not a generator tech].
He is just always there to help. He is there to bust balls and give you a hard time, too. Don’t get me wrong. He is you, me and every other Joe Schmoe but he just happened to hit a speed bump in life.
He will have a hard time financially supporting the people that are emotionally supporting him through this time. Maybe Dave has touched your life in some way or his story has touched your heart. Either way, if you have the time please reach out with words of encouragement that we can pass on or a donation to put his mind at ease.
