Who am I :
My name is Shanita Young. My students call me Ms. Shanita, I am the one in need of money to get another car.
I work for the St.Louis Park School District and travel to all the schools in the district, and the district office, as well as other organizations in the community. I conduct home visits and help families in the district with various projects and responsibilities, I also provide resources and sometimes give rides.
I am an active member of the community, A Board Member of the Family Services Collaborative in my community. A member of the Parent Advisory Committee at my sons weekend school, Chairperson of the AIPAC (American Indian Parent Advisory Committee) in the school district.
I volunteer at my sons weekend school. I make breakfast for all the morning students on the 1st Sunday of the month because all of the children do not bring food which is not provided. I make breakfast for the teachers on the 3rd Sunday as an appreciation for the work they do with the kids there. I am a service person in my heart and help anyone I can.
What happened:
I was involved in a car accident on March 31st. My daughter, granddaughter, and son were in the car. My son (Amen) had no injuries he was in the passenger seat behind me. My granddaughter (Jo'Shaya) was in the back passenger seat. Her right leg has an injury. My daughter (Shay) was in the front passenger seat where we got hit. She has injuries and is getting medical attention still. She got hurt the worst. I have been helping her as much as I can. I was driving and I have some injuries which prevented me from work for 2 weeks and I am still struggling with work. But I am determined to be there as much as possible.
Since the accident, I have not been able to make breakfast for the weekend school but hope to soon.
Where:
The accident happened in Mpls. It was a hit and run. We have no info on the other driver.
Why:
I need money to get a reliable car to get to work so I can provide for my family. Also, continue the services I provide, I don't even want to talk about the trickle down of not being able to get to work. I work directly with students and families, community members, provide support to anyone I can.
How:
With your help in buying a reliable car, I will be able to do all the things I do. I am Muslim and we are not supposed to pay interest. With your help, I will be able to buy a reliable car without having to make payments or incur the repercussions of paying interest.
Current expenses:
I have been renting a car, which is not in my budget at a base rate of $35-$45 a day. I am almost out of money. Have rent and other general bills. My income covers basically exactly even less than what I need. Buy the grace and mercy of Allah (God) we are getting by,.The insurance agency still needs me to pay my car insurance even though I don't have a car it is currently $351 but will expire on the 19th. So I need to pay before then and need to have a car so my insurance doesn't lapse and go up.
