Bariatric Surgery

Hello,
My name is Leah. I never thought I would create one of these. I started my journey for weight loss surgery. I am currently the highest weight I have ever been, 312. I have a BMI of 51. I have struggled with my weight for many years. When I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, it gradually became harder and harder for me to excersise. Most of the time, I need a cane to walk with. After meeting with my team of doctors, it was deemed medically necessary for me to have surgery with the hopes that my RA would also go into remission, making it easier for me to excersise. I hate asking for handouts. But I found out that my insurance that I have through my employer has a definitive exclusion to all bariatric procedures and weight loss medications. I was devestated. I tried to advocate with not only my insurance, but also my benefits people at my job to no avail. It will cost me right at 20k for the treatment I need. I ask that if you find it in your heart to give, please help me get to a better life. A healthier me.
