Chanel’s Road to Recovery

As a parent my main priority is always to keep my children safe. On Sept 20th, 2020 my 13 year old daughter Chanel suffered an accident. I won’t go into detail because I do feel that some things should remain private. She required brain surgery to reduce swelling and stop the internal bleeding. She has a fractured shoulder blade, collar bone, and temporal bone. She required two blood transfusions. She’s currently is in the pediatrics ICU. There are many unknowns to what these injuries have caused in her. She’s not awake and won’t be for many days. I’m terrified. Everyday I wish I could switch places with her and it were me in that bed and not her. I wish I could take away the pain and rewind time. 

Chanels recovering may take weeks to months, we just don’t know yet. She will require 24/7 care in ICU, in rehabilitation. She will need speech therapy and physical therapy. I’ve stopped working to be here with her and I will remain here in the hospital through the entire process. I’ll file what I can through PFL but we all know that’s not much. Anything raised here will go to finding a new home that is safe for Chanel, we have a 3rd floor apartment that I had to give a 30 day notice on. It has to many stairs and is too high up to bring her back there when we’re able to. It will be for any medical expenses insurance doesn’t cover, rent and any other necessities. I need to focus on her right now. I didn’t want to go this route but I feel I have no choice but to ask for help. If you can help, thank you.
