My name is Brent Flynn. I am a PreAP English teacher at Liberty Junior High School in the Richardson Independent School District. I started a guitar club a few years ago with my own acoustic guitars, along with donated guitars from friends and family. It has grown to include a drum set, electric guitars, a P.A., pianos, keyboards, and a digital mixer/recorder.  Most of this I bought with my own money.
The Liberty Sound Studio has become a sanctuary for a diverse group of students who wouldn't otherwise have access to this equipment. I teach at a Title I school, which means that most of the students are economically disadvantaged. Many of our students are former refugees.
The problem is that the equipment needs to be updated due to wear and tear as a result of heavy use. Additionally, I would like to add electronic drums that have a volume control. The kids love playing the drums, but it is extremely distracting when I am trying to grade papers and plan lessons (kids are in my room virtually every morning and afternoon making "music"). And since I built most of the stage out of discarded pallets and leftover particle board, it might be a good idea to make some improvements/repairs to the stage.
I am asking for $3000. I could make due with less, and I could easily spend more. Any amount is greatly appreciated by me and the students who will be using it. It is pretty amazing to watch a kid learn a basic drum beat one day, and then turn that into a full-on rock or hip-hop beat the next day. Likewise, I have taught countless kids how to play basic notes and chords on the guitar. Some have gone on to write their own music, teach siblings to play, and perform in front of hundreds or thousands. These are skills that they will love and cherish for the rest of their lives. 
As far as a timeline, the sooner the better. The drums are about to drive me nuts!
