Hi my name is Oddessey Hudson and I would like to introduce you to Sheileene Rodriguez who now goes by the name Xavier. Xavier is a transgender male in desperate need of a life-saving open heart surgery replacing the mitral valve and repairing the tricuspid valve of the heart. At age 16 Xavier got really sick with the flu and the infection went into his blood stream causing damage to his heart so he had to have an emergency open heart surgery to repair his mitral valve. The repair to the mitral valve has failed causing more blood to leak into his heart which they think is the reason he now has damaged to his tricuspid valve. A mechanical mitral valve must be put in and then they are going to try to repair the damaged that was done to the tricuspid valve, If this doesn’t work he’ll need a pacemaker. Either way he’ll have to be on blood thinners for the rest of his life due to the mechanical mitral valve. His case is very special because people are usually born with heart diseases and or heart defects.
I met Xavier almost 2 years ago, only after a month of dating I learned about his heart condition. The more test they did the more we learned his heart has taken a turn for the worst. The repair is suppose to last 15 years but here we are 7 years later needing another life-saving/life-changing surgery way to soon, left untreated this can ultimately cause heart failure and death.
I am completely heart broken to get this news especially at a time like this when the world is going crazy with riots during the outbreak of coronavirus. They have put many restrictions on the hospital to keep everyone safe. Xavier’s entire family will have to decide on one 1 person to be with him at this time of need, he will only have virtual support from the rest of his family. We have been out of work for almost 3 months and we also don’t have a vehicle at the moment, traveling back and forth to the city is going to be difficult, and taking public transportation can put him at risk for the virus, Uber’s are extremely expensive and hard to come by now a days. I must stay strong for Xavier and my 3 children during this horrible time I’m reaching out to everyone please have a change of heart and join this cause.
