Hi friends! I'm Emily. In June 2018, I had brain surgery to have a tumor removed. When I woke up from surgery there were a slew of side effects. Luckily, I've regained most of my abilities over time. The only lingering side effects are facial paralysis and my vision being weakened.
It's hard to explain, but the best I understand is that my eyes have a hard time pulling an image together. My vision itself is fine, but my left eye tries to see images more up and left than my right eye. The doctor said my focus is very fragile and can be easily broken, so if I'm tired I could start seeing double. I've done all the visual exercises I can on my own, but they said they can further correct my vision with therapy and using special tools.
I was hesitant to make this, but the truth is that without help, I wouldn't consider this to be something I could afford to do. I wasn't physically able to work for several months after my surgery, so I don't have money for the recovery that is available to me. I can't really do much to help my facial paralysis, but it would be great to be able to do something about my vision. It's frustrating that there's a way to fix it and I have to chose not to because of money. It's frustrating to ask for help. But my mom convinced me that it's worth a shot. $1500 will cover the initial evaluation and the first round of therapy (once a week for 8 weeks) . Thank you so much for your help!
