Dave's Big Walk for Parkinson's

Donation protected
On 25th of April, David Walsh will begin a walk consisting of a hop from the upper east side of Manhattan N.Y. to a skip, the entire length of Connecticut, finishing with a jump to the Parkinson's Place in Pawtucket Rhode Island, to raise funds for American Parkinson's Disease Association of Rhode Island and Rock Steady Boxing,  where people suffering from Parkinson's get hands on treatment, that help make the connection between brain and body through intense exercise and training, something I know from personal experience, does work.

For nearly 8 years I was being swallowed up by Parkinson's with anxiety, depression and isolation the disease was taking over my life. Then I watched a video about Rock Steady Boxing (https://rocksteadyboxing.org/), that video changed my life. Soon after I found a gym and friend for life with Richard Gingras at Fight2Fitness, got certified, and brought the program back to RI.

We started showing videos of how this non contact boxing exercise program was improving the symptoms of folks with Parkinson's. Little did I realize a man named David Walsh who is from Ireland, was watching our posts. David, like me is fighting Parkinson's, he told me our videos helped him get through some difficult times which has inspired him fly to the U.S. for the Parkinson's unity walk on April 23rd in New York City. Two days later he will beging the 10 day, 180 mile walk.

We ask for your support, imagine how difficult walking 18 miles a day without Parkinson's is, this is an incredible gesture by David. Your donations will go to the APDA of Rhode Island respite program which is 501c3 non profit orginization. We are also looking for hotels along the route that will offer a room for a night in support of Parkinson's awareness.

I put up a goal of raising $1000 but it's not about the money. This is about the human spirit and what you can accomplish if you have the right mindset. We're looking for people who have battled through illness, depression and of course Parkinson's to join David on his journey, walk a mile with him and raise awareness for Parkinson's. Please share and spread the word.
