Remembering Harvey
Our colleague and friend, Harvey, died suddenly in July 2022. He was one of a kind, funny, smart and caring beyond belief. He was charming and would light up the room by simply walking in it. He was a real character and we all adored him.
Harvey left us too soon. After his passing, we’ve asked ourselves so many questions and have all supported each other. We’ve decided to take action to help make sure another family, community or workplace doesn’t have to go through the same experience. As Harvey loved cycling and running, it felt fitting to do something active in his memory. In November 2022, a few of Harvey’s colleagues completed a Half Marathon and in April 2023, a colleague ran the London Marathon both in Harvey’s memory. We will now embark on our next challenge, on 8 July 2023, where Olie Dearie, Becky Casey, Sarah Footman, Amy Au, Sebastian Reyes, Noreen Rana, Clare Merrifield and John Cheesman will be completing the three national peak challenge in 24 hours. The final climb is Mt Snowdon, in Harvey’s native country of Wales.
We will be raising money for James’ Place. Around 6,000 people in the UK die from suicide each year, and about three quarters of those are men. James’ Place is a charity that provides free therapy, advice and support to men facing suicidal crisis, through their specialist centres in London and Liverpool. They rely on donations to run these centres and are also raising funds to create similar centres in other parts of the UK. A £20 donation could help a man in suicidal crisis to join a peer support group, a £50 donation could fund an assessment of a man in crisis and a £100 donation could fund a therapy session. And £55 would be a pound for each year of Harvey’s life.
Please donate if you are able to and think of us when we are hiking for Harvey on 8 July 2023.
