Long-time Herndon residents all remember Sylvana's restaurant but especially its larger-than-life owner, Costas. Costas owned and operated Sylvana's at two locations for four decades, making a mark on the town and becoming something of a local legend with his dynamic personality and sociability. He was also a supporter and advocate for the town and the town's children, sponsoring countless teams and organizations over the years.
After a hard-fought battle with lung and brain cancer, every Herndonite's favorite Greek passed away in December 2016. His 8-month battle with cancer, including a hospice stay for end-of-life care, created substantial and unexpected financial challenges for his family. Whether you were a friend or customer, chances are you remember Costas' generosity and gregarious spirit. Please consider helping out with his memorial fund.
