Hi. My name is Sherry. My daughter and her 2 mini doxies were visciously attacked at their apartment door by a pitbull. My daughter was bitten but her smallest , 8 lb, sweetest furbaby was unable to survive.
Thus incurring $2000 of emergency vet bills for her dog that didn't get to come home.
The owner appeared out of nowhere, barefooted, grabbed up his dog, tossed it in his truck and sped off...leaving my bleeding daughter and her mauled furbaby standing there. The UF emergency vet clinic assessed Duchess while sending my daughter to the ER for bite wound care and to start a series of rabies shots.
Animal control is involved in Alachua county FL but the man, who avoided the situation and fled...eventually called animal control and said his dog " bit" another dog. Ultimately he refused to surrender the dog and it remains at large.
In the interim my daughter Alannah and all involved are emotionally traumatized.
Alannah is completing her Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling and this last 2 semesters is unable to work because of the amount of hours she is required to log in and also maintain her class work.
This has been a nightmare...and a difficult financial burden for them.
This Christmas she is picking up Duchess' remains from a crematory.
Please consider donating to help assist in the medical cost incurred.
We are going to address the legislation of Alachua County to tighten animal control laws. This man wasn't even required to produce vaccination records or quarantine the dog to check for rabies.
Thanks to all who have read this and contribute if you can...your prayers for justice for Duchess are also appreciated.
Any funds raised will be applied to the UF Emergency Veterinary Hospital and Crevasse Crematorium fees.
