Help Mina Pursue Her Dream of Becoming a Doctor

Donazione protetta
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to visit this page. My name is Mina Ahmadi. I am a 19-year-old Afghan girl.

Since the fall of the Afghan government in August 2021, girls like myself have been completely banned from accessing secondary and higher education. Overnight, we were stripped of one of our most fundamental rights, the right to learn. Everything I had worked for, including my lifelong dream of becoming a doctor, was shattered in an instant. Life had always been challenging as a girl in Afghanistan, but now, pursuing an education has become nearly impossible.

The Taliban have enacted severe restrictions on girls’ and women’s education. Currently, no girl above the sixth grade is permitted to attend school, and those found studying in secret risk interrogation, imprisonment, or, in some cases, even execution. The extent of these restrictions and their consequences go far beyond what can be conveyed in a few paragraphs. Unfortunately, I continue to face enormous challenges. I do not have access to formal education, a stable source of income, and other basic rights.

Despite these circumstances, I have not given up. I have continued to study in secret and remain committed to keeping my dream alive, the dream of becoming a doctor and helping others. After years of effort and perseverance under difficult circumstances, I am proud to share that I have been accepted into a one-year Chinese Language Program at Zhejiang University of Science and Technology (ZUST) in China. This program is the first formal step toward pursuing a degree in General Medicine.

This opportunity represents a critical turning point in my life, but I cannot seize it without your support. In order to begin my studies in China this September, I must raise USD $3,400, which will cover the following:
• USD $2,000 – One-year program tuition.
• USD $1,000 – Visa fees, passport renewal, airfare, and initial living expenses.
• USD $100 – GoFundMe processing fee.
• USD $300 – Transfer costs (due to the financial institutions’ instability after the Taliban takeover, receiving funds directly is quite challenging. Thus, this campaign is managed by a friend who will help securely transfer the amount raised through Western Union or Moneygram).

I have come this far with nothing but determination and the firm belief that education has the power to transform lives. Your contribution, no matter the amount, will help me take the next step toward a future that was denied to me in my own country. It will also serve as a message of hope to millions of Afghan girls who continue to wait for the day they can return to their classrooms. Thank you for standing with me, for supporting this cause, and for showing solidarity with Afghan girls who continue to resist and dream despite everything.

With love and gratitude,
Mina
