My name is Millie, and I’m setting up this GoFundMe on behalf of my big brother, Jack, who was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer in February of this year.

We’re seeking to raise £185,000 for pioneering treatment that could give Jack a life-changing chance at recovery.

It’s impossible to put into words the magnitude of shock that comes with a diagnosis like this - especially for our family and those closest to him. From the very beginning, my brother has met this challenge with extraordinary courage, optimism and hope.

Throughout this journey, Jack has continued to do everything in his power to fight this illness and give himself the best possible chance. Alongside his medical treatment, he is also supporting his body through carefully considered complementary approaches, including nutrition-based strategies (such as ketogenic principles and fasting protocols), vitamins, IV therapy, supplements, and herbal medicine.

These are being used as supportive measures alongside his oncology care, where he is currently undergoing chemotherapy at The Royal Marsden in London. And while we are immensely grateful for the care and support he is receiving, it is likely that, due to the spread of the disease, the long-term strategy will be a 'stop/start' approach on chemotherapy rounds in the future. The impact of this on Jack's body and quality of life will be significant.

This has led us to researching alternative treatment paths, specifically intratumoural immunotherapy at the Williams Cancer Institute in the US/Mexico. Unfortunately, this treatment is not widely available in the UK or EU, which means accessing it requires travel overseas to specialised centres.

Intratumoural immunotherapy is a targeted cancer treatment in which medicine is injected directly into the tumour - rather than delivered through the bloodstream. The goal is to focus treatment where it is needed most, stimulate a stronger immune response, and help the body recognise and fight cancer cells more effectively throughout the body. We believe this offers an important additional avenue of hope in his fight and a better future for Jack.

For Jack specifically, this approach is particularly relevant. His cancer type means that standard immunotherapy delivered through the bloodstream is unlikely to be effective - his tumour sits behind a biological barrier that prevents immune cells from reaching it. Intratumoural delivery bypasses that barrier entirely. The science is compelling, and we have spoken at length with the team at Williams, who have reviewed Jack's full case and imaging, and believe he is the right candidate for this type of treatment. Additionally, a close family friend of ours was treated at Williams using the same therapy, and has been in two years of remission.

Jack’s plan is to reach the halfway point of his chemotherapy, take a short recovery period of around two weeks, and then begin treatment at Williams. The sequencing matters; the chemotherapy works to reduce the disease burden first, then the immune approach takes over.

My brother will be funding a significant portion of this himself, however, the costs associated with this treatment are substantial. In addition to self-funding, we are aiming to raise £185,000 GBP to help cover:
