Suzy Wojcik has called St. Mary’s, Pennsylvania home since 1987. She is the kind of person who gives her all for family, friends, and anyone who needs a hand. Alongside her husband Joe, she has spent decades working hard and putting everyone else first, never expecting anything in return.
Now, after nearly four years of fighting, Suzy and Joe are facing one of the hardest chapters of their lives.
In April 2022, Joe began experiencing discomfort in his throat. What followed was the diagnosis of esophageal cancer. He endured a seven-hour surgery that removed a portion of his stomach and esophagus, followed by 16 days in the hospital. The surgery was successful, and Joe went on to complete a full year of treatment. Joe regained his strength, his energy, and the busy, hardworking spirit we all love.
Unfortunately, it was only brief.
Joe was later diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Soon after, his esophageal cancer returned — this time spreading to his bones, lymph nodes, and liver. Despite multiple treatment attempts and months of praying for a positive outcome, doctors shared the heartbreaking news that no further treatments were working. Joe and Suzy made the incredibly difficult decision to focus on comfort and quality of life, and Joe is now receiving care through Hospice.
As devastating as this journey has been emotionally, it has also created a serious financial crisis.
When Joe could no longer work, medical bills, household expenses, and credit card debt quickly began to pile up. Their home and financial future are now at risk. Through it all, Suzy and Joe have never asked for help. Even now, Joe’s greatest worry is not for himself — it’s for the debt he may leave behind for Suzy. He remains deeply grateful for the care he is receiving, but the financial burden remains, and Suzy is facing it largely alone.
We are asking for help so that Joe can have peace in his final days and so that Suzy does not have to carry this weight by herself.
Any donation — no matter the size — will help cover medical bills, household expenses, and debt accumulated during Joe’s illness. Most importantly, your support will allow Joe and his family to focus on love, comfort, and time together instead of fear and uncertainty.
If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser. Every act of kindness makes a difference.
