Charlie’s road to recovery
Donation protected
Charlie is my beautiful little sausage dog who is 5 years old and has just been diagnosed with stage 5 IVDD (intervertebral disc disease). He cannot stand or go to the toilet himself and has a catheter. He is currently in animal ICU and has had an operation on his spine today. We were also told that he has a heart murmur which we were unaware of and a mass on his spleen. The surgeon does not know at this stage whether the mass is cancerous or not but the spinal operation was priority today. His spleen mass will be dealt with at a later date. I have received a call from the Surgeon just now who has said everything went well and Charlie will spend the evening in ICU. It is from there that we watch and wait and hope that he recovers well. I do have insurance that will cover 80 percent of the cost. I have had numerous private messages asking if there is any way to donate towards his recovery. I have therefore decided to set up a go fund me for Charlie’s recovery and in return I will document Charlie’s recovery daily on my social media channels so that you can see how your donations have helped him. I thank you all for your kind messages and support through this difficult time and am very grateful for any help received.
Update 11/09/24 - Charlie is doing well. Undergoing physio. Still unable to walk but physio have been walking him with the aid of a sling. His catheter will come out at some stage and if he cannot wee then he will have further surgery to put a tube in his bladder so that we can syringe his urine out and if that happens they will remove his spleen as he has a large mass on it. He is happy with a wiggly tail and is kept comfortable but remains anxious as he is in hospital and is on medication for this. The good news is that he responds to pain stimuli in feet and he has been down graded to stage 4 IVDD.
lots of love Michelle and family
