Bring John Home

John Fallavollita was and is a great man, a smart man, and a kind man. On April 29th, 2018, John was diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma, which is an extremely aggressive form of brain cancer. He was 64 years old.
Since then John has undergone radiation and chemo theropy while first living at the U of A hospital then at home for 5 months. Unfortunatly, due to the placement of the tumor in John's brain, he lost all mobility in the left side of his body. At first it was manageable at home, but as the tumour grew he became much weaker and we decided it was time to bring him back to the hospital to see what could be done.
A week ago, John was told that he was no longer a candidate for chemo therapy, leaving only one difficult yet necessary option for him; palliative care. We are extremely blessed with our health care system in Canada, however, not everything is covered by our insurance. Moving John into a long term care facility costs a considerable amount of money. Taking John home would cost even more money to give him the care and help he requires.
Our family has been struggling both in the heart and mind with this since April, and the struggle continues now with the added bonus of trying to stay afloat. Our mother Lorna works full time with the Government of Alberta and has the ability to take care of herself since John was diagnosed. However, the cost of long-term care is heavy and will leave barley enough money for our mom to pay her bills.
Long story short, the family is in an unimaginable financial bind. We have attempted to apply for grants but for one reason or another do not qualify. He has now been placed in a long-term care facility because this option is all we can afford at the moment, but with your help we may be able to bring him home and have him spend his last days with the people that love him the most.
We are not the type to ask for help, especially financially. Putting our pride aside we are asking now for some help from our family and friends. Any contribution you are able to offer is truly appreciated.
