Sheila Zombar Memorial Fund

Sheila Ann (Baughman) Zombar, 56, of North Bloomfield, passed away holding her husband’s hand on April 1st, 2022 after a twelve year battle with cancer. She battled fiercely, and nothing in the journey conquered her amazing spirit and tenacity. As some might say “Cancer cannot cripple love, it cannot shatter hope, it cannot conquer the spirit.” Sheila was the embodiment of this and will be greatly missed, but her bright spirit lives on. Born on December 10th, 1965, Shelia Ann (Baughman) Zombar was the first child of Jean (Baughman) Pendland in Warren, Ohio. She met her high school sweetheart Jeffrey in 1981 and later graduated from Niles Mckinley Highschool in 1984. Jeff and Sheila were united in matrimony on June 23rd, 1984. Sheila and Jeff went on to have three wonderful children, David, Matthew, and Nicholas. Sheila worked her early career in banking and took some time to focus on her family when Matthew and Nicholas came along. She adjusted her professional focus to supporting teachers who worked tirelessly to further the education of children with disabilities. Sheila felt great pride in the work of the teachers and the children and loved her role in the Howland Local Schools. Sheila relished life and loved nights out with dear friends sharing a bottle of wine along with laughter. She and Jeff enjoyed time together, from exploring various wineries to walking hand in hand on a beach. Sheila was also well-known as a fierce supporter of her sons in all of their adventures during childhood and beyond. She was incredibly proud of them and cheered them on in their various adventures. Throughout her life, she loved spending time with each of her sons, even when they sometimes exasperated her with their four-wheeling antics. Some of their fond memories include bird-watching together, talks during long drives to hockey practice or games, watching random shows together, and enjoying each other's company outside. Sheila was conscientious about spending all types of moments with her sons, from heartfelt, long talks about a range of topics to spending time coaching them and their friends in soccer. She was a tough but fair coach, encouraging everyone involved to give it their all, but the number one rule was to have fun. Sheila applied this philosophy to all things in life. The world is blessed by how much Sheila gave of herself and her time to her family, friends, and her community. Sometimes she worked until the wee hours of the night only to turn around and volunteer at school first thing in the morning and then later still gave her love and attention to her family that evening. While she always worked hard, Sheila valued relaxing with loved ones and was incredibly fond of trips with her family to Virginia Beach. All of these memories and more live on in our hearts as “Those we love never truly leave us. There are things that death cannot touch.” -Jack Thorne. She is survived by her husband Jeffrey Zombar, son David Zombar, son Matthew Zombar, son Nicholas Zombar and her sister Sheri (Baughman) Hornton. Additionally, she will be remembered by many nieces, nephews and countless friends.
