On Sunday, April 26th, my little sister Rachel was involved in a devastating scooter accident that resulted in a C5–C7 spinal cord injury and multiple facial fractures. She underwent emergency spine surgery and is currently a trauma patient in the Neuro ICU, under the care of a neurosurgical team.
In the moments after the accident, Rachel was alone on the street, calling out for help until someone finally stopped and stayed with her until emergency services arrived. That moment speaks to both how serious this was, and how strong she is.
She is alive, and we are incredibly grateful. But her road to recovery will be long.
Right now, Rachel cannot care for herself independently and requires full support with daily needs. She is facing months of intensive rehabilitation, additional procedures, and a long process focused on regaining strength and function in her arms and hands.
Rachel is a nurse who has spent her career caring for others in their most vulnerable moments. She is also a devoted mother, sister, and daughter, the person many rely on when they need help.
She recently started a new job, but because of that timing, she does not yet qualify for many benefits. She has been placed on a leave of absence, with a delay before disability support begins.
Our family is traveling from Delaware to California to be with her and help care for her during this critical time, which adds to the financial strain we are now facing.
We are asking for temporary support to help cover basic living expenses, caregiving, transportation, and medical-related costs so Rachel can focus fully on healing.
Rachel is strong, determined, and fighting every day to regain her independence. If you know her, you know she will not give up.
If you’re able to support, whether by donating or simply sharing this page, we are deeply grateful.
Thank you for standing with Rachel and our family during this time.
After a lifetime of caring for others, Rachel now needs her community to help carry her through this.
Your prayers have already meant so much, please continue to keep Rachel lifted in prayer as she fights her way back.
