Help Dood Recover
Donation protected
I created this for my daughter to help her with her boy Dood. She and Dood have been through so much upheaval over the last month.
These are her words:
My sweet boy Dood (Doodle Bug) ran away from our new home to explore on Sunday July 8th. We had just moved house to get out of an unhealthy situation for the both of us, so he hasn't been exactly "at home" yet.
He was hit by a car that same night at around 10 pm. The person that hit him did not stop and left him in the middle of the road for dead. Luckily he was seen shortly after and his dog tag was used to get ahold of me. We rushed to the emergency vet hospital immediately after finding him where he was admitted into the ICU.
His stomach was hemorrhaging as he took the brunt of the trauma in his chest which caused a lung to pop and leak air into his chest cavity. They drained the air at around 4 am on Monday and it was successful but he wasn't out of the woods yet. The trauma to his chest caused him to have heart arrhythmia which is the main concern for the time he's spent there.
I also received a call early this morning, Tuesday the 10th with new information that his left back leg has a torn ACL. The hope is that it will heal on its own but surgery might have to be done in the future. Aside from the big things he is covered in many gashes and bruises and just hurts all over.
We have already racked up over $3000 in medical bills and he should be discharged tonight with medications that I've not been told the price of yet. I will be required to pay his bill in full when he is checked out and I don't have the means to do so.
This dog is my world and one of the only things I have left in my possession that means anything to me as 90% of my belongings were intentionally burnt to the ground two weeks prior to this. Hence, leaving the unhealthy situation.
I really hate asking for help but there is no way I can do this on my own, and I would appreciate anything and everything anyone could do to help. This is going to be a long road to recovery but I'm just so thankful he's alive and going to be able to continue his life with me.
There are many things I'm sure I've forgotten to tell you because my mind is just so frazzled. But ANYTHING that ANYBODY could do to help me help my special boy recover would mean the absolute world to me. I would never be able to thank you enough.
Things I Forgot to Mention:
- I rescued Dood when he was 9 months old and he will be 3 in August.
- He loves snuggles in bed, cats and walks in the woods
- Our new home will feel like home to him soon!
- We are each other's world and I cannot picture my life without him.
Thank you for your help!
Sincerely,
Natalie/Penelope
