My name is Adam Carey, Christine is my wife. Together we have 3 amazing daughters.
Christines Journey began June 15, 2023, when she got a call that her routine blood test showed extremely low blood levels, when resulted in us rushing her to the er to have lifesaving blood transfusions. She had been feeling fatigued, no energy, loss of appetite, vomiting, pain and extreme weight loss in a matter of just a few months.
Over the next couple months, she continued to get worse, including over 15 blood transfusions, several hospitalizations, imagining, testing and blood workups and by august she was in diagnosed with end stage liver disease, Cirrhosis of the liver, liver failure along with a list of other life-threatening diagnoses. As they continued to find a cause they finally discovered she has something called Wilsons Disease that she has been living with for her entire life left undiscovered and undiagnosed until now.
On October 29th things took a turn for the worse and was taken to Shasta regional in Redding California where she remained until staple enough to be air lifted to San Francisco's CPMC Van Ness campus (October 31,2023) where she is currently being closely monitored and kept alive by blood transfusions and medical intervention until a liver becomes available for her.
We could use help during this difficult time to help cover medical costs, help pay for the VERY expensive medications after the transplant, pay for the transplant itself( insurance is covering a part of it), food, etc., and loss of income and ease some of her stress. she has to have someone stay with her at all times and after transplant, we will be required to stay in a motel close to the hospital that costs a total of $1800 for the month so she can be closely monitored 24/7, as well as see the specialists twice weekly over that period to make sure tests are looking normal and the liver is not being rejected, I will be taking time off to care for her during this difficult time.
Thank you so much for reading this. We would be eternally grateful for any help received and we can keep our daughters wonderful mother alive. Our family has been rocked by this terrible tragedy and it is still surreal this is even happening. Again, thank you so much!
