Greenlight the Next Generation

Think of yourself as an Executive Producer, someone with the power to Greenlight the next generation of storytellers.

For 20 years, San Francisco Film School has been a launchpad for talented filmmakers from underrepresented communities. Today, many students with extraordinary vision are ready to enter the industry, but too often they face financial barriers they cannot overcome alone.

To remove those barriers, San Francisco Film School partners with the Peartree Foundation for Creative Arts to support the Golden Gate Visionary Scholarship Fund.

Your support opens the door for students who are ready to create, lead, and shape the future of film.

Whether you give $25 or $5,000, every contribution directly invests in emerging filmmakers who simply need a chance.

Meet some of our most recent GGVS recipients:

Ayngelique Daniel - 2025 GGVS Recipient
  • To be supported in a world that seems its losing the benefits of assistance from our higher ups, shows that there are still resources to believe in. It pushes me to strive for greater accomplishments and keep my head on straight for not only myself but the people who’ve supported me. Thank you.

Drè Car - 2025 GGVS Recipient
  • As a film student, I’ve learned that storytelling is more than capturing moments…it’s translating emotion, truth, and lived experience into something that moves people. This scholarship has not only eased the financial weight of pursuing my dreams, but it’s also affirmed that my voice belongs in this industry. It’s a reminder that my perspective…rooted in the Bay Area, shaped by resilience, culture, and authenticity…carries power. The Golden Gate Visionary Scholarship didn’t just help me stay in school; it helped me stay inspired. Every frame I create now feels like a thank you…to those who believed in me, and to the visionaries who will come after.

Our goal is to raise $100,000 before the end of 2025 to support up to 20 students with an average annual scholarship of $5,000 per student.

While the GGVS is available to students residing in any part of the country, we prioritize those from the nine San Francisco Bay Area counties with the goal of supporting emerging filmmakers and digital artists whose work reflects the region’s diversity, cultural depth, and complex social landscape.

Awards are $5,000 to $15,000 per academic year and include:
- Tuition support for accredited programs at the San Francisco Film School
- Production budget for student films
- Mentorship with working filmmakers
- Showcase opportunities at film festivals and screenings

The San Francisco Film School is an accredited vocational institution whose mission is to equip students with both the technical tools and the creative confidence to forge careers in film, television, digital media, and beyond.

This GGVS is designed to empower students to tell their own stories while providing them the training and mentorship needed to turn passion into profession. We are proud to invest in young creators who not only dream boldly but also reflect the vibrant and multifaceted spirit of the Bay Area.
