What has felt like a bad dream just became reality.
Last week, I was officially served foreclosure papers. I’ve fought hard to hold on, but now my only option is to create a new path forward for my kids, my dad, and myself.
And before you scroll past thinking, “My $5 won’t make a difference”: if everyone in my Instagram (897), Facebook (702), and LinkedIn (1,916) networks donated just $5–6, the cost of a cup of coffee, I would hit my goal.
Many of you helped me with my last GoFundMe, which allowed me to get our car back and keep utilities on. I’m beyond grateful. But time has run out on my mortgage forbearance, and despite months of job applications and interviews, there’s no offer in sight. Even if I land something soon, most roles won’t cover my $3,200 mortgage and $560 HOA—not to mention everything else.
For those who don’t know: I’m a single mom raising two amazing kids while also caring for my dad as he recovers from cancer treatment. There are no grandparents, siblings, or safety nets. It’s just me holding it all together for the four of us. I do my best to shield my kids from the fear of it all, framing this instead as our “next adventure.”
So here is our next adventure: my extended family has a concrete slab with hookups where we could park a camper. But I need a camper. With poor credit after months of struggle, financing will be tough, so I need a large down payment. This would lift the crushing weight of a mortgage and HOA, giving me breathing room to accept contract work or lower-paying jobs while still keeping a roof over our heads.
I hate asking for help. If you know me, you know “I’ll figure it out” has always been my motto. But I can’t figure this one out alone. I have until November 4th, when our home will be auctioned. Please—if you can donate, share this, or simply help spread the word—I would be deeply grateful.
