Jim Prichason is presently undergoing cancer treatment in San Francisco and he has been evicted from his home. Bro. John Fuchs '76 traveled from Los Angeles to San Francisco to help find a place for Jim to live while he undergoes treatment, and he has been very hard at work rallying his fellow 70s Beta Alpha alumni to pitch in to keep a roof over Jim's head.
We all know Bro. Prichason as the Vietnam War-era Beta Alpha who sent IHQ a photo of himself holding a match and a gas can, threatening to burn down the Chapter House if IHQ went through with its plans to sell it. It's no exaggeration to say that none of us post-1969 Beta Alphas would know each other, or any of our other friends from the Chapter, if it weren't for Jim's efforts to keep Beta Alpha alive in the 70s.
[Jim Prichason put his all into recruiting these men and kept the doors of 663 Gayley Avenue open for future generations of UCLA students.]
Bro. Prichason presently has a room at the Club Quarters, a membership hotel in San Francisco where Bro. Fuchs has a contact who is giving Jim a discounted rate (http://clubquarters.com/san-francisco). But, funds are running out (Bro. Fuchs has been hitting up the same core group of alumni repeatedly) and Jim may again find himself on the street at a critical juncture in his treatment. At a minimum, Jim needs $140/night for two months to get him through his cancer treatment, hence the $9,000 fundraising goal.
Rick San Vicente '77 & Phil Green '75 have been pitching in and they are also trying to get Jim into alternate housing; but, given the scarcity of subsidized housing, it will take a while.
Let us band together now to lend a Helping Hand to a Beta Alpha brother whose actions have had a huge, positive impact on the lives of all of us who followed him into the Brotherhood. Thank you very, very much for your consideration.
