In 2017 Sadie suffered multiple injuries on the streets of Serbia. Due to the extremely high numbers of homeless dogs there, she lived for two and a half years with her injuries without treatment.
In August 2019 she travelled to Northern Ireland in the hope that her broken bones could be fixed and she could be put up for adoption.
Sadly this was not to be. Due to the delay in treatment Sadie had to have her front leg amputated in October 2020. This was followed by surgery on her broken hip in October 2021. As a result Sadie's one remaining front leg struggled with the pressure and collapsed at the wrist 2 months later. In January 2022 she had surgery again and had her failed wrist removed and two plates inserted. Unfortunately she developed an infection which has caused the plates and screws to become loose and break, meaning the metalwork inside her leg is moving and failing to do it's job.
Her one remaining front leg is now in a critical situation. With it bearing all Sadie's front body weight every step must be excruciating. Nonetheless Sadie never lets it show. She is just the happiest dog, who so much wants to live life to the full. Her attitude is all about living in the moment and making the most of what she's got. Her positivity is inspirational.
Sadie's only hope now is for further surgery on her front leg which can only be done at a specialist referral practice in England. As this is one of the top veterinary practices and extremely specialised it doesn't come cheap and therefore we need to raise £10,000. It's a serious amount of money but while Sadie isn't giving up on herself we are going to do our best to not give up on her either.
Initially our plan was for her to get her surgery at the start of next year, giving us time to hold a number of fundraisers to get the money raised. Unfortunately x-rays taken today now show that everything in Sadie's front leg could collapse at any second with some of the screws starting to push out through the skin. Therefore she now must get surgery urgently before it is too late.
In the hope that through some miracle we manage to get the funds needed we have provisionally booked her in for surgery for next Monday 11th November. No surgery comes with a guarantee but what is guaranteed is that without it our beautiful happy, inspirational Sadie will have no future.
If you can help by making a donation, no matter how small, we thank you with all our hearts.
