Help get my Chemotherapy started to move forward
Got diagnosed with Stage 3 Rectal Cancer back in June 2020. Been out of work since My 14, 2020 and still need to go through 6 more months of chemotherapy.
My job is union based, and they didn’t vote in Long Term Disability so Shirt Term Disability only pays up to 6 months of being out from work. I found out the hard way and last minute about not having LTD pay.
Applied for Disability but that takes about another 6 months to get it going IF you get approved first time around . Can’t file unemployment since I’m technically still employed for being part of a union .
Submitted my claim with tons of documents to the VA on how my medical staff and I believe it to be service connected to the harsh environments from my tours to Afghanistan. It’s under review still and who know how long that can take ; if it does get approved at that.
Just feels like I’m playing the waiting game at this point because of so many different influences that I cannot control have shifted my life down a path I never even signed up for.
Ever since this diagnosis, everything just did a complete 180 on me and I’m ready to flip it right side up again but I need some help to do so.
Blessed my job still assists me with my major bills but I just need to come up with the deductible for my insurance to start my 6 month wave of ,hopefully my last ,chemotherapy treatments before moving forward with some reversal surgeries afterwards so I can return back to somewhat a “normal’ life again.
