My name is Heather Strauser, I am the Administrator at Vancrest of Holgate. I am creating this on behalf of one of my aides, Danielle Aldrich.

Life can change in an instant. For Danielle, a loving single mom, everything turned upside down this year.

This is Danielle’s story. In October 2024, Danielle was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer. November 11, she underwent surgery to begin her battle to fight her diagnosis. Danielle is an exceptional aide who works for Vancrest of Holgate. The dedication that she has to this facility and her residents is amazing!

Due to the nature and extent of her cancer, she has been referred to Ohio State James Cancer Center. She has no choice but to travel to Columbus for specialized treatments (chemo, radiation, hormonal) and appointments, adding even more emotional and financial strain to her situation.

Danielle’s strength and determination are unwavering.

Unable to work due to the intensity of her treatments and declining health, Danielle has lost her sole source of income. Despite her efforts, the bank is unwilling to work with her to adjust her mortgage payments, and she’s facing the heartbreaking possibility of losing her home, a place that has been a safe haven for her and her son.

Medical bills and utility bills have started to pile up, which have caused her to fall behind in payments.

This is where we can come together and make a difference.

• Afford travel and lodging for her appointments in Columbus.

• Manage basic living expenses while she focuses on her health and her son.

Danielle has always been a loving and selfless mother. Putting her son first and working hard to provide for him. Now, she needs a community to lift her up in her darkest hour.
