Our sister, Courtney, was recently diagnosed with Stage II Metastatic Breast Cancer. This means it is not centralized to the breast and has moved into her lymph nodes. It was a staggering diagnosis as Courtney is a single mother of two girls who are 10 & 6. Her treatment over the next 6 months will consist of chemotherapy 1x a week for 3 months and then 1 x every 3 weeks for 3 months on top of various follow-up appointments and scans. Once completed, she will be evaluated to see if further treatment is needed. The whole process will take at least a year to confirm a cancer free diagnosis. With all this, she must continue to work to meet her insurance coverage requirements and has only recently discovered that her insurance will not cover chemo treatments. She doesn’t qualify for short term disability, only long term based on the package she has. Courtney is the sole provider and has been juggling 2 jobs for the past year just to make ends meet. She and her social worker are working diligently to try and get what she needs put in place so that she can continue her treatments. My family and I are asking for your help to lighten her burden. For her and for the girls. Instead of being focused on her health from a fighting the disease standpoint, she is spending her energy fighting the system. It’s going to be a long year and any little bit of help will help to ease the challenges she faces will be greatly appreciated. Courtney has a CaringBridge (link) noted below) page set-up where you can follow her progress, send her notes of encouragement and find other ways to help, simply visit her page and sign-up for notifications. All monies will go directly to her.
From the bottom of our hearts – Thank you,
Bethany, Randall & Steve
