Tribute to Joe

It was with saddened & heavy hearts that on October 22nd 2021 my moms only son Joe & our brother lost his battle with diabetes. Dealing with loss is never easy & it was hard news to deliver as he was only 60.
Joe's diabetes was taxing on his health, difficult for him to manage at times , had bad medication reactions , caused other ailments such as neuropathy, severe weight loss, poor vision, gastric stomach & intestinal issues and the most difficult of all it severely effected his mental health. Sadly it aged him physically and slowed him down , which was hard because he loved to wander everywhere.
All of this he quietly struggled with trying to keep it as private as possible.
As a young man he began traveling the country side mostly on foot & his thumb or in one of his (as we called it ) chitty chitty bang bang old trucks. All his life he would help the homeless, less fortunate and even buy coffee for the police if they were in line behind him. As most of you know he had very little but gave as much as he could. If he had a nickel in his pocket and you needed a nickel, he would give it to you without hesitation. He would pick up trinkets and things along the way having someone in mind he knew would appreciate it. Once he brought back a delicate gift wrapped in a shirt all the way from TX to NY for his sister! He was kind and respectful with a generous heart of gold. He truly had a heart of a child.
This brings me to tell you why we are hosting this fundraiser:
- This will greatly help (and be tremendously appreciated) with memorial costs, bringing him back home to his mom where he can be properly laid to rest, helping all of us with finding a little more peace & closure.
- A celebration of life ceremony.
- Remembrance cards.
- In addition , in lieu of flowers we felt a unique and thoughtful tribute to his life would be to make hygiene travel kits in drawstring bags to distribute to the homeless, shelters, soup kitchens, etc.
He has been reunited with his Grammy Mosley with whom he treasured dearly, family , friends, his pets he named Cat , Dog or Fish. We truly miss his quirky dry sense of humor & will cherish all of our memories and know that his soul has found rest.
